A medieval penny of Edward III (1327-77), pre-Treaty series C, struck at London and dating to 1351-52. Obverse has initial cross 1 [looks like cross 1a but this could be corrosion or post burial damage]. Crown is bifoliate with thin pointed ornaments. Letter Rs are wedge tailed, C and E closed. The reverse has a long cross pattee with annulet at the centre of each group of three pellets and a reverse barred roman N.

Some wear, especially of the legends, and some post burial damage.
