A complete knapped flint probable tranchet axehead or adze of Late Mesolithic date (6500- 4000 BC) date. It is parallel-sided and flatter to one face than the other. Both faces retain a small area of cortex and the flint is dark grey in colour with some patination spots.
There is an angled transverse strike at the square cutting edge to one face. The butt end retains some cortex and remnants of a heavily patinated original surface. Flake removals otherwise flank the long edges and are semi-abrupt in angle.
The object measures 88.2mm in length, 32.6mm in width, 22.7mm in max.thickness and weighs 76.98g.
