An incomplete Post Medieval copper alloy double-looped buckle dating to the 17th century.
The buckle frame would have had two trapezoidal loops although now only one loop and the central axis bar now survive.
The frame of the buckle is sub-rectangular in cross section and is trapezoidal in plan. The outer corners of the surviving loop have two projecting ovoid knops. A further oval projection is placed between these two knops on the outside edge of the frame. On the front of this projection and carrying on onto the frame is an incised line acting as a pin rest. There are traces of another incised line running pependicular to this.
The centrally positioned bar is narrowed, widening as its apraches the frame has on one side a moulded knop although another may have been chipped from the opposite side. The pin is missing.
The buckle is mostly covered in a dark green patina although there are red brown traces on the axis bar that may be traces of Iron corrosion from the pin. there is also a small trace of white metal coating on the incised pin rest.
The buckle measures 22.3mm in length, 18.7mm in width and 2.5mm thick, it weighs 2.09 grams
