Copper alloy dragonesque brooch fragment. This is the main S-shape body and head of the brooch which is just missing the pin and tail of the beast. The body is highly decorated with multiple cells of varying shape which contain either blue or red enamel. The arrangement of the cells consists of two bands of alternating triangles forming two transverse lines, flanking this is a semi-circular panel each with two lentoid frames in the centre: the semi circular in infilled with red enamel while the lentoid are filled with blue. After which are four transverse arches with alternating blue and red enamel in-between.
The head is made from a sub-oval shape, in the centre of which is a large ring and dot that has blue enamel in both the ring and the dot. A diagonal groove at the forward edge defines the snout to give the impression that it curves from the bottom of the forward edge to a roundel terminal that has a circular cell in the middle infilled with red enamel. Behind the eye, on the opposite end of the head are four crescent shaped cells filled with either red or blue enamel.
