Flint with cortex core. A rounded nodule fragment with broad and narrow parallel flakes struck from it by probably unidirectional working, though with cortex retained on a remaining curved surface. The aris between the struck surfaces and the angled striking platform is battered, suggesting the core was put to some other use as a pounding tool before it was discarded. The struck surfaces bear dense creamy patina, suggesting the object has endured prolonged exposure to a calcareous environment after its final deposition. Iron spots may also suggest its incorporation in gravel. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC

Height: 51.9mm, Width: 32.1mm, Thickness: 24mm, Weight: 41.48gms
