Flint with cortex strip probable core fragment. A large chunk with long parallel flakes removed by initially unidirectional working from a flat striking platform. Though the form may have initially have been, or intended to be, pyramidal; either casual working or damage has left the larger part of the surface unevenly shattered. A dense creamy patina over all struck surfaces suggests the object has subsequently endured long exposure to a calcareous environment. Suggested date: Late Mesolithic, 7000-4000 BC.
