An incomplete copper-alloy globular headed collared pin of Early-Medieval date, c.AD 800 - 1000. The pinhead is globular with five, evenly spaced ring and dot designs around its circumference and one on the flattened top. From the base of the head a circular sectioned shaft extends, tapering to a worn break. A worn raised collar is present at the junction between the head and the shaft.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The pin is 24.9mm long, the head is 8.8mm in diameter, the shaft is 1.7mm in diameter and weighs 2.7g.
Collared pins with ring-and-dot decoration are a common find from Middle-Saxon England, and have been placed in a typology by Haldenby (2012) in which he supports a 9th to 10th century date.
