A Lead spindle whorl from the Early Medieval Anglo Saxon period from around AD 500 to AD 850. It is discoidal and has two flat faces of equal size with a very slight convex face on one, a relatively large central hole and curved sides. Its diameter is 25.4mm. The internal hole diameter 7.5mm, it is 5.8mm thick and weighs 14.85g.
Evidence for its date is drawn from Cloth and Clothing in Early Anglo-Saxon England AD, Penelope Walton Rogers 2007, pages 24 and 25 figure 2.18 (type B2).
