An incomplete copper alloy probable furniture or box fitting or escutcheon plate, of probable Post medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1800).
The fitting is of an irregular shape, almost sub triangular. The right hand and lower edges are incomplete.The upper edge has a scalloped edge, with curved stamps, creating an almost foliate or hair style design. A small rivet hole is present at the apex, internal diameter 2.2 mm. The curves continue down the left hand side, with an upward curve out, with more curved stamps inside in. The centre of the fitting has an upward pointin chevron, infilled with a double row of annulet stamps.
The back of the fitting is undecorated, with traces of iron staining present.
It measures 40.4 mm in length, 38.7 mm wide and 1.8 mm thick. It weighs 11.32 g.
The fitting is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina.
Similar style furniture fittings, although the decorative scheme is different, have been recorded on the PAS database. These include: KENT-25A598 and DEV-03E8A6
