Medieval, c. 1200-1260, cast copper alloy buckle, oval with an off-set bar around which is a fragment of sheet copper alloy. The section of the frame is rectangular, 3.3 x 2.2mm with a keeled inner edge. On the buckle's outer edge are two flanking projections separated by a recessed band around which is a strip of sheet copper alloy marked by two, incised, circumferential, grooves. The pin is wrapped around the frame and has a grooved running down its length on both faces. The buckle is carefully shaped but its surface is covered in file marks left from manufacture. In London buckle of this from were dated to c. 1200-1260 (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, Fig. 44, 288, 293). Width 17.5mm, Length 18.7mm, Thickness 4.6mm, Mass 3.40g.
