An incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch missing its pin, dating to the 1st century AD. The wings are C shaped in cross section, and span 13.4mm. The wings are very worn, one is broken just after the bow. Underneath the wings the spring would have sat, this in now missing. The bow rises up from the wings, before descending in a curve. The bow is sub triangular in cross section and flat on the reverse, with a raised ridge running down the centre of the bow. There is a worn break in the bow, and the catch plate and foot are now missing. The brooch has a mid green patina and is very worn, it measures 18.5mm in length, 4.5mm in width, 2.8mm in thickness an weighs 2.22g.

A similar brooch is possibly Hattatt 2000, page 298, Figure 157 number 358, and Mackreth 2011 volume 2, page 38, number 1493.
