An iron spear head dating from the 7th - 9th century. It is angular and has a split socket. It probably fits into Swanton Group E2 which was in use for a long time. The blade is kite shaped with short concave upper sides. It is lozenge shaped in section. The socket is intact and is U shaped. The socket is 18.25 mm wide and 16.71 mm thick at its widest point. The socket is about 48.20 mm long. The neck between the socket and blade is oval in section and is decorated with at least three circumferential moulded ridges near the socket. The neck curves into the shoulders of the blade. The shoulders are 49.86 mm wide and 3.00 mm thick. The blade tapers from the shoulders to the tip and has straight sides.
