A post medieval copper alloy strap fitting, probably from a sword belt, dating to the 17th century.
The hanger's main body is an ovoid plate with a flat reverse and slighlty convex front surface. At the top of this plate there is a trefoil knop. On the opposite end to this is a collared hook, which curves backwards to a rounded point. The plate has a hole in the centre of the upper part and the remains of a rivet project from the reverse in the centre of the hanger just above the hook. A futher rivot project from the reverse of the trefoil knop.
The front of the plate is decorated with an engraved vine and foliate pattern but the back is plain.
The piece has a green patina. The mount measures 65.05mm in length, 28.68mm in width, 3.75mm in thickness and weighs 19.56g.
Read (2008:222) no. 800 shows a similar example which he dates to the 17th century. LVPL-3F4348 on the database is also very similar.
