An incomplete cast copper alloy strap fitting or mount dating to the post medieval period (1500-1700).
The mount is slightly convex from the front and consists of a heart-shaped frame which tapers to a fleur-de-lys shaped terminal consisting of two rounded and pierced lobes flanking a central elongated oval knop. Each lobe features an off centre cast aperture. The frame is D-shaped in cross section. The reverse is flat and bears the remains of two attachment spikes, one stub at the indented end of the heart shape and the other, in better condition and preserving the point at the base of the fleur-de-lis. The mount is otherwise undecorated.
Similar objects have been recorded on the database as DUR-6B6C2B, SWYOR-90CF45, YORYM-48A525 and YORYM-CF8BF5, however, these examples have a closed heart shaped plate as opposed to an open frame and the same lis terminal.
