Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Grey flint with cortex strip, scraper. A thick oval flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side by multangular hard hammer strike. Angled scalar retouch then executed from the dorsal aspect followed a curved edge. Patches of misty patina subsequently developed over this side of the object, and on part of its ventral surface. This patina is absent from most of the rest of the ventral surface, which may originally have been bulbar, but which has been extensively reworked with angled hard hammer drafts. It is debatable whether interruption of the patina along the edge arises from a final episode of reuse or from adventitious impact. Suggested date: Early Bronze Age, 2350-1600 BC

Length: 31.2mm, Width: 35.6mm, Thickness: 13.3mm, Weight: 14.26gms
