DEBITAGE

Unique ID: NLM-2D8474

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Grey flint debitage. Two thin flakes, of length 31.5mm and 17.8mm, with broad flakes trimmed from their dorsal sides and each with a bulb on the ventral surface. One bears a light misty patina suggesting its exposure to a calcareous environment; the other lacks this, and was perhaps in a sealed context until recently. The finder has suggested a possible function as a chisel-ended or transverse arrowhead for one or both pieces; the smaller is perhaps the more likely candidate for this. Suggested date: Neolithic, 4000-2350 BC

Combined Weight: 5.27gms
