A complete post-Medieval silver modified 50 cent piece of Napoleon III of France (1852-1870), born Charles-Louis Napoléon Bonaparte. Dated 1852 on coin and probably minted at Paris.

Obverse: LOUIS-NAPOLEON BONAPARTE; Bare headed bust left.

Reverse: [FR]ANCAISE [REPUBLIQUE] A; [50]/CENT/1852.

Diameter: 17.6mm. Weight: 2.25g. DA=12:6.

The coin has been pierced with a hole at about 12 o' clock and 6 o' clock on the obverse. The circular hole at about 12 o' clock, diameter 1.6mm, has pierced the mintmark on the reverse. However, it seems to be 'A' for Paris. The hole at about six o' clock is filled with the remains of an iron pin.

Evidence of reuse: The coin has been pierced with a hole at about 12 o' clock and 6 o' clock on the obverse
