A slightly convex copper alloy button of late 18th to early 19th century date, probably relating to a ploughing competition. The front of the button depicts a plough on a field with two sheep above and the legend WILTSHIRE above and SPEED THE PLOUGH in the lower portion. The reverse is convex with a stump of an integral loop shank.
Notes:
Comparable to HAMP-ADB413 and an example in the Wiltshire Museum's collection (Accession number DZSWS:1958.329.3).
