A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy buckle (c. 1720-c. 1790).
There is a break at each end.
This fragment is part of the top or bottom edge of the frame. The upper face is moulded with a rosette flanked by contiguous pellets. One end has the remains of openwork. Below the rosette a flange is pierced to accommodate a spindle. Part of the iron spindle survives within the hole.
The fragment has a green patina with buff deposits and the breaks are old.
Length: 35.6mm; width: 10.8mm; thickness: 6.5mm. Weight: 5.96g.
