A cast lead Russian oval hemp seal with lettering on both sides within a linear border and with two sub-rectangular slots opposite each other on each side of the seal, which would have allowed the sealing cord to pass through the seal and attach it to the bale of cloth. Obverse: ПД[...] / П:[...]/PДП[...]/H85(6) Reverse: (SP)B / IH.RH / 1788.
Notes:
The ПД translates to PD and refers to the inspected hemp; the obverse represents the initials and surname of the Quality Control Officer and the either code for the location at which the Officer worked or the registered number of the sealing tongs he used. The reverse side denotes the place of export and possibly the producer of the goods.
