A Post-Medieval copper alloy mount, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1700. The mount consists of an acorn shaped plate with two integral lugs on the reverse. The mount is slightly convex, (concave at the back) with, on the front surface, lightly moulded hatching or mottling in imitation of the cup of an acorn. The upper part, the tapering nut, has perhaps longitudinal low ridges, the whole ending in a small knop. The stem of the cup bends sharply to one side at an almost 90 degree angle. On the reverse only short stubs of the lugs remain, placed centrally, one near the base of the cup and one near the pointed end of the nut. There is evidence of gilding over the front surface which is otherwise rather abraded.
