A Roman pottery sherd from a vessel, a Samian decorated beaker or vase dating to the mid 2nd - mid 3rd century possibly Rheinzabern, East Gaul. Possibly from a Ludowici type VSa. There is a glossy dark red slip on both external and internal surfaces which is now abraded. The decoration on the beaker is moulded panel in a 'cut-glass' design, this was "Directly derived from real cut glass, this method consisted of incising the vessel and was most commonly used in East Gaul" (de la Bedoyere 1988:52)
