An incomplete copper alloy buckle of late medieval to early post-medieval date (1350-1520 AD), comprising the buckle frame and central bar.

The buckle is double looped, with each loop formed of an outward facing D-shape. The frame is sightly angled with both loops extending upwards at an angle from the central bar. The right hand loop is slightly broader and more flattened than the left, measuring 4.1mm at its widest point as opposed to 5.1mm at the widest point of the left hand loop. Both loops are decorated with three incised horizontal lines at their central point. The bar is markedly slender, at 2.6mm in width.

This example is similar to Egan and Prichard (1991: 83) number 333, of which there are numerous other local examples on the database including DEV-081A29.

It is 34.2mm in length and 33.2mm wide. The frame is 2.6mm thick. It weighs 6.56g.
