A Mesolithic to early Bronze Age flint probably a fabricator dating to the period c.8000 - 1500BC.
It is sub-oval in plan and a pointed oval in cross-section, convex on both faces.
The fabricator retains c. 10% white cortex in one continuous patch on the distal end of the dorsal and ventral face.
It exhibits a series of invasive, scaled semi-abrupt flake removal scars along both mesal edges on both faces and becoming long, shallow and parallel at the proximal end and also short, parallel semi-abrupt retouch evident directly on these mesal edges
The bulb of percussion has been removed by retouch however the lack of ripples in the only area free of retouch, below the cortex, would suggest this is the distal end The flint is a mottled dark grey with light grey coarse-grained inclusions.
The fabricator measures 38.4mm in length with a maximum width of 18.9mm, 11.4mm at the distal end, 7.6mm at the proximal end. It is 8.2mm thick and weighs 6.60g.
