Copper-alloy Roman Hod Hill variant brooch, dating to c. AD 43 - 75. The head of the brooch is missing, leaving a flat lozenge-shape flanked by ridges, beneath which a D-shaped sectioned bow tapers to a point. The back of the brooch is flat apart from a catchplate, which extends from the bottom of the lozenge-shaped section to the foot. The lozenge-shaped section has a central circular perforation, which lies within an incised circle on the front face. The surface of the brooch is worn and carries a heavy green patina. The brooch is 36.62mm in length, 13.53mm in width and 4.72mm in thickness. It weighs 3.65g.
