A complete cast gilded copper-alloy signet ring dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1600-1700). The ring has a large flat oval-shaped bezel. The upper surface of the bezel is engraved with the recessed initials 'N' and 'B' in reverse for stamping. The initials are surrounded by a single-lined circumferential border. The interior surfaces of the bezel, shoulders and hoop are plain. The ring is corroded and has several areas of black discolouring amongst the other gilded areas. There are also some small patches of red and green corrosion product across the hoop and shoulders. The ring measures 28.1mm in external diameter, is 27mm in height and 3.1mm thick at the hoop. The bezel measures 18mm in length, 14mm in width and is 4.6mm thick. The ring weighs 13 grams.
