A near-complete but worn tin-alloy farthing with a central copper-alloy plug struck for Charles II, dating c. 1684-1685. Spink 3395. The edges of the coin are worn, obscuring the majority of the inscription. Tin farthings were first issued in 1684 to help boost the tin industry, with the copper alloy plug intending to discourage forgery but it failed in its purpose (http://www.coins-of-the-uk.co.uk/farth.html).
