A large copper alloy Colchester derivative bow brooch. A Dolphin type. The pin is missing. The wigs are semi-cylindrical and would have housed a spring for the sprung pin mechanism. Between the wings at the rear is a trace of a rearward hook. The wings are decorated with vertical ridges and grooves at the front. The bow arches from the centre of the wings a tapers as it drops down to a break at the foot. The bow is D shaped in cross section and decorated with longitudinal incised grooves. The upper part the bow has a ridge along either side. The lower part of the bow is narrowed and starts to expand backwards to form the missing catchplate.
