A badly corroded pewter spoon, broken into three fragments, comprising the rear of the bowl and junction with the stem and two parts of a flat and spade-shaped handle which measured 23.3mm in width. The stem is fluted with a hexagonal cross-section and is 5mm wide, by 4.4mm thick. There is a lozengiform knop in the stem at the junction with the bowl.
Three marks are evident on the handle (second image); a four petalled flower, a thistle and a third mark which may be a letter R. All are contained within small octagonal escutcheons
On the basis of the style of the handle, an 18th or 19th century date can be proposed.
