An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy dress fastener eye-piece of Read's Class A, Type 2 (1500-1700).

The sub-oval plate has moulded decoration at the front and is flat and plain at the rear. At one end are the scant remains of an eye-section attachment loop and at the opposite end there is an incomplete attachment knop. There are two further attachment knops just below the attachment loop, one at each side. The centre of the plate is decorated with two addorsed flowers on stalks and with leaves springing from a central bar.

The object is reddish brown with some drab green patina. The breaks are old.

Length: 24.7mm; width: 23.0mm; thickness: 1.6mm. Weight: 3.36g.

A similar dress fastener (hook-piece) from Staffordshire is illustrated in Read (2008), page 173, number 651.

Compare with similar dress-fasteners: HAMP-A3F757; HAMP-746D80; HAMP-7EAF42; NMS-09E149 and SWYOR-283E81.
