These blades are struck from a core and have the generic crested appearance on their dorsal faces. Many of the blades have been deliberately snapped through the removal of side notches and deliberate breaking. The underside / ventral face of each shows conchoidal rippling and some have evidence of bulb of percussion and / or striking platforms. All the blades have some form of retouch along their long edges - this is best described as being disorganised short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt which creates a serrated cutting or possibly scraping edge. A few examples are also retouched along the butt where teh bulbar scar has been removed or tidied. The colour of the flint varies between light grey - dark black and some have a mily white coloured surface patina.
The largest blade measures: 40.1mm length, 19.3mm width, is 7.0mm thick and weighs 3.59 grams.
The smallest blade measures: 9.6mm length, 11.1mm width, is 2.2mm thick and weighs 0.27 grams.
The 24blades have a bulk weight of 41.73 grams2019-02-13 18:11:562019-03-08 17:08:57411Certain1169PAS5C645DEC001F8010424HESHFlint10837Knapped/flakedIncompleteMESOLITHICMEx14235p0gjgrs45g4NEOLITHICNEx14337p0gjgrs3d38FieldwalkingCircaCirca93796638904421633890441426Restricted AccessSO3658SO35NEPembridge1011047274HESH45DECF_black.jpg1601365Mesolithic: BladeBirmingham Museums Trust4images/dolphin/West MidlandsEuropean RegionUnitary AuthorityCounty of HerefordshireUnitary AuthorityCounty of HerefordshireUnitary Authority Ward52.222-2.9486Restricted AccessReturned to finder96399
