An incomplete iron horseshoe dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1250-1400). The horseshoe is heavily corroded but at least two rectangular nails are still apparent in situ on the face of the object. The shoe has an even-sized web measuring 29.98mm across at its widest point, and tapers down to 21.71mm at the heels. Calkins are apparent on both heels, though the right hand calkin has been worn away somewhat. The horseshoe can be classified as Clark Type 4. For a comparable example see Clark (2004: 87) no. 230.

The overall dimensions are as follows: 125.83mm in length, 130.32mm in width, 17.11mm in thickness and 365g in weight.

Class: Clark Type 4
