A complete stone axe of Neolithic date, circa 4000 - 2300 BC. Ground and polished stone axe, oval in section and tapering sharply from the curved cutting edge to the rounded butt end. The dorsal face is flatenned, the ventral surface is curved. The stone is green/grey in colour, flecked with black. It is irregularly worn across it's surface and has four prominent chips missing from the cutting edge. Length: 168mm, width: 64mm, thickness: 39.7mm, weight: 560g
