A complete copper alloy Seal Matrix of Medieval date (AD 1200-1350). The object is circular in plan and flat in section with a raised ridge and projecting loop on the back of the object. The front of the object bares an inscribed heraldic design composed of a squared shield with central cross Moline. The outer edges have an outer and inner circumferential border. Within the border is an inscription written in retrograde which reads "+ S'SAVEST DNI DE BOVSOIT MILITIS" which might link to Jean Sausset lord of Boussoit or a relative. The former took part in the invasion of England in 1326 under Queen Isabella.
The metal is dark green in colour with a smooth patina.
