An incomplete flint axehead, possibly part of an unfinished roughout dating to the Neolithic period (c. 4000-2400 BC). The surviving piece is probably part of a broken blade end that is roughly oval in shape with a squared-off edge at the break. Most of the butt end appears to be missing. The surviving blade end is roughly lentoidal in cross-section with a convex curved blade that tapers roughly evenly in width to the blade edge. Neither the blade, edges nor surfaces have any evidence of polishing though there are several patches of cortex, especially towards the broken edge. The flint is mottled grey in colour with several patches of iron staining on the surfaces across its higher points. There are areas of chipped damage on the long edges and no obvious patination direction on the surfaces. The flint measures 61.9mm in length, is a maximum of 47mm wide and 14mm thick at the broken end. It weighs 56.04 grams.
