Brass Saddle Makers Plate. The hinge in the centre of the reverse is still in working order. The plate is 75.1g in weight and is 125mm in length. The Plate is whole but the brass colouring is now gone. On the plate is the legend 'BENJAMIN MAKER SWANSEA'. And is accompanied by swirly designs to the left and the right of the legend. Saddle plates were used to identify the manufacturer of the saddle, and to add aesthetic and monetary value to the saddle.
