An incomplete copper-alloy book clasp of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1450 - 1700. The object is sub-rectangular, with two D-shaped cutouts creating a narrowed centre. Projecting centrally from one end is a narrowed integral rectangular hook . The other end is straight with three irregularly positioned v-shaped cutouts. Two rivet holes are present, one inset slightly from the centre of the straight end and the other centrally where the plate widens towards the hooked end.
The metal has a dark green/brown patina and is worn. The object is 49.2mm long, 21.5mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 4.9g.
