An incomplete copper-alloy discoidal button of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600-1700. The button is circular in shape and flat. It is decorated with a flower motif consisting of approximately twelve petals joined by looped inner cusps. The flower is set within a beaded border. All other decorative detail is obscured by wear. Faint traces of gilding remain on the outer surface of the button. The reverse bears a central attachment for a separate embedded drawn copper-alloy wire shank, which is lost. The reverse is undecorated.

The metal is brown in colour and worn. The button is 33.7mm in diameter, 1.8mm thick, and weighs 5.9g.

Similarly decorated and constructed buttons are illustrated and discussed in Read (2010) pp.106-107 and are dated to the 17th century AD, although no similar parallel with a flat front could be found. Similar buttons have been recorded on the database as YORYM-DDE87E, KENT-F1104D, and SOM-826263.
