Two lead bulla type seals with a star of David in relief on one side and numbers, also in relief, on the other.
Both are c.16mm in diameter, one weighs 2.6g and the other is slightly damaged and weighs 2.1g; the more complete one has no. 615 on the reverse and the other has no. 26.
These are probably fertiliser/artificial manure bag seals, although some have been recorded on the database as 'kosher meat seals'. Stuart Elton has recorded several similar items marked with a Star of David on www.bagseals.org as originating from Leeds Phosphate Works [Company No: 40783; Leeds Phosphate Works Ltd. Incorporated on 12/02/1894 - 'To carry on the business of Agricultural Chemists and Artificial Manure Manufacturers and Dealers in Artificial manures of all kinds.' Dissolved at Extraordinary General Meeting at Newcastle-upon-Tyne 30/09/1921.] and records that 'The numbers in this group range from 20 to 976 with several duplicates.'
