An incomplete Medieval copper alloy buckle plate. Only the front half only of a folded sheet metal plate. It is rectangular sheet of copper alloy with a circular attachment in either corner at one end and, at the opposite end,are two narrowed rectangular tabs which are the remnants of where the plate was folded over the bar of the missing buckle and the rectangular notch to allow for the attachment of the pin. The front of the plate is decorated with an indistinct relief design the recesses of which may have been enamelled The rear of the plate is undecorated. The plate is slightly bent.
