Cast copper alloy strap fitting (belt mount) of probable post-medieval date (1500-1700). The strap fitting is broadly circular in plan and rectangular in profile; the edges are bevelled. The front face is decorated with a sexfoil / six petalled flower formed around a dome shaped circular boss. Between each petal is a small projecting knop and the upper surface is decorated with punched annulets and crescents. The style of the flower is similar to the Tudor rose. The reverse face of the fitting is irregular but broadly flat with a concave depression at the centre; it is undecorated. Two cast sub-rectangular projections (hooks) extend from either end of the fitting; both of these are distorted terminating in blunt points - they have sub-rectangular shaped cross sections. These hooks would pass through the strap leather and hold the fitting in place. A small fragment of this leather strap remains pinned beneath one hook; it is dry, fibrous and very friable. The fitting is a mid green colour with an abraded patina that covers all surfaces. The upper surface may have originally had gilded features. The mount is slightly distorted by movement in the plough soil. Similar examples of strap fittings can be seen in Brian Read's book 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' (pages 34-37).

The fitting measures 30.7mm length, 31.1mm width, is 9.6mm thick and 3.1mm thick across the plate; the mount weighs 11.17 grams.
