A post-medieval sheet copper-alloy book clasp, a hook-piece, sub-rectangular in plan, dating to the 16th or 17th centuries. At one end the sides are recessed and a tab continues as a short curved hook now broken. The other end is cusped and very slightly flared. The clasp has two circular rivet holes, c 2.0 mm in diameter, 31.6mm apart. On the front are traces of a small floral pattern either side of the rivet hole at the cusped end, a larger floral pattern between the two rivet holes, and a square with indeterminate pattern at the hook end.

The clasp measures 64.82mm long, 21.61mm wide and weighs 5.44g.

Margeson (1993, 73; fig. 40) illustrates a similar though more decorated book clasp, no. 452, which is dated from c. 1550-1700.
