Copper alloy cast Medieval to Post Medieval handle retaining loop from a metal vessel such as a chafing dish. Oval in shape extending to a short rectangular cross-section neck with a small collar lip on either side. A projecting integral circular stub with an upset end acted as a rivet securing it through the wall of the parent vessel. The loop has coarse filing over all faces, with a patch on one side worn smooth through use. Circa AD 1400-1650.
