An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester derivative double lug Type, dating to c. AD 43-100. The wings of the head have a slightly curved profile and they still house the spring mechanism. The back of the head bears the copper-alloy axis-bar and the chord passing through the double lug; few coils of the spring are still in place and a large portion of the pin still survives. The front face of the wings have a semi-circular cross-sectioned knob flanking the upper bow. The bow is oval in cross-section and its front face has a longitudinal groove along its upper part; the grooves are flanked by short transverse punched triangles. The back face of the foot has a complete catch-plate, which has a triangular perforation. The rear edge of the catch plate bends sideways at right angle to the plate. The bow is slightly bent sideways at 17.51 mm from the top of the brooch.
