A small and worn copper alloy object of probable early Roman date (c. AD 43-200). The object, possibly part of a brooch or fitting, is slightly oval in plan with a small, rectangular 'tab' projecting from one edge, which is broken and incomplete. Within the face of the fitting is a cinquefoil annulet design set within a recessed circular field which would have been filled with enamel but of which none now survives. The centre of the annulets probably also held enamel, likely of a contrasting colour to that of the background. The reverse of the fitting is ever-so-slightly concave, but is otherwise plain and undecorated.
