A particularly thick fragment of Roman ceramic floor tile.

The fragment is sub-triangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The flat edge has a finished surface and the core is grey.

Length: 228.0mm; width: 143.0mm; thickness: 77.0mm. Weight: c. 2539.0g. (post-room scales).

Surface find in the Inter-tidal zone.

Notes:

Some of the thickest tile I have seen is from the Isle of Wight, pers. comm. Gerald Brodribb, 1980 (in conversation with Frank Basford at Carisbrooke Castle).
