Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A worn and bent lead alloy toke dating from c. AD 1600-1800. The obverse has a pair of cross keys with pellets in the quarters formed by the cross, while the reverse has a grid pattern, sometimes interpreted as lines on a ploughed field but more likely to represent a chequer board, which could be associated with accounting or a pub called the chequers. A similar token can be seen in Powell (2015:02 Fig. 5). Similar tokens with cross keys are DENO-7DF672 , SUR-2BC207, SUR-14F342, LANCUM-10BDD5 and BH-7076F4. Reference: Powell D., 2015.
