An almost complete post-Medieval copper-alloy trade weight (1590-1862).

This trade weight is circular in plan with flaring sides and bevelled at the base. At the top the diameter is 23.4mm and the diameter at the base is 20.2mm. The flat rim has a width of 2.7mm. The upper face is slightly dished and has a circumferential groove at the centre. A stamped ewer/coffee pot at 6 0' clock is the approved mark of the London Founders Company and the stamp was used between 1590 and 1826 (Biggs 1992: 50). The rear face is flat and has a central lathe centring point in the form of a circular pit. There are faint multi-directional file adjustment marks on the base.

The weight has a green patina and small portions of the rim is missing.

Diameter: 23.4mm; thickness: 5.6mm. Weight: 13.40g. (0.4730 ounces).
