A small incomplete cast Medieval copper-alloy 'bar' mount with terminal and central lobes c. 1200-1300 AD.
Description: The central lobe has a circular perforation 2.6mm in diameter. Both terminal lobes have a smaller circular perforation, less than 1mm in diameter, which would have allowed attachment via rivets. Lower lobed is damaged.
Measurements: 23.88mm long, 8.62mm wide, 3.21mm thick and weighs 1.76g in weight.
Discussion: Similar versions are recorded as 13th Century in Egan and Pritchard's Dress Accessories, (1991, 213-214, nos. 1147-1153). A number have also been reported to the PAS in copper-alloy such as WILT-203F83 + WILT-3962CF and silver KENT-967F99.
