NAIL CLEANER

Unique ID: NLM-888CF3

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Copper alloy nail cleaner. A thin oval sheet metal plate with a tapered projection which is neatly nicked to V-shape at its end. The object bears an appealing pale green patina. The form is non-diagnostic: a Roman date might be preferred but such a simple construction cannot rule out a later date, and the condition is very good - the form also resembles that of fish-shaped bone gaming pieces of post-medieval date. Suggested date: Unknown, Roman to Early Post-Medieval, 43-1600

Length: 42.2mm, Width: 11.7mm, Thickness: 0.7mm, Weight: 1.41gms
